What has been done in the Besgnulinux JWM 3-1 release?
In this version, the base design was kept as is, but many changes were made.
Some regularly added software has been removed from the system upon request. The ISO file has been reduced to around 2500 megabytes. Libreoffice, Inkscape, Games, Printer are some of the software that will not install. The installation of these software is left to the user's discretion. The ability to add items to the menu has been adapted. This was also done by request. Users can add or remove items from the menu. A relatively modern menu has been added to the JWM menu. An image of this menu, called App Finder, can be seen below. A second menu is not required; it's simply for user preference. Another significant change is the change to the default file manager. The latest version of the Pcmanfm file manager, which we've been using for years, is riddled with bugs. Therefore, it's been replaced by the Nemo file manager. Nemo works well with JWM and is quite lightweight, consuming an average of 25MB of memory. This time, the desktop is active. Spacefm is managing the desktop. Spacefm is responsible for the desktop. Nemo has been integrated into the system for normal use. 18 items for various operations have been added to the Nemo right-click context menu. These items will make many user tasks easier. Another change is that the QMPlay2 video player has been made the default, which I find lightweight and capable. Tray and record features have been added to the screenshot software. You can add it to the system tray and record the screen. Some Besgnulinux tools have been reorganized. Some suspicious looking items have been streamlined. The touchpad indicator is active, you can remove it if you are not using the laptop. You can install Flatpak and Virtualbox from the "third-party software" tool. You can also install the Liquorix kernel from the same tool. Also, I don't know if it's necessary, but a welcome screen has been added. You can disable it from running at startup if desired.
Some software installed on the system
Brave browser, Abiword, Nemo, Pluma, Lxterminal, Xarchiver, Gparted, Synaptic, Mtpaint, QMPlay2...
As always, you can download this version, which has been purified from background software other than basic services, designed for ease of use and with care taken for stable operation, from the link below.

Thank you for the hard work creating 3-1! It appears to be too dark and the menu is not inviting. 3-0 had a better color palette and menu is overwhelming at first, but once learned is easy to navigate.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all your passion for this distro.
Thank you for your kind comment.
DeleteBesgnulinux has a feature that lets you change both the background image and the system color with a single click.
It's available via Menu > Besroot > Change theme color.
So, since you can easily change the system color, there's no problem.
The system has two menus, classic and modern, to provide users with additional options.
Furthermore, shortcuts for installed software can be added to the system's main menu with a single click.
Such kind comments are always helpful, so thanks again.
Very well done. I am a long time XFCE and i3 user. I switched from Debian to Arch for the last 5 years. BesgnuLinux brought me back to Debian and revealed the charm of JWM to me....

ReplyDeleteI was waiting for the new version, and I've already started the download. I hope I don't have any problems with the font size, given my limitations. As always, I appreciate the work and dedication that went into creating this distribution, which is very well done both technically and aesthetically. Greetings from Colombia.

ReplyDeleteMuchísimas gracias por tu ardua labor de proporcionarnos esta genial distro sin ningún interés o condición... me encanta Besgnulinux y es mi favorita.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much to all the commenters. Your kind comments are inspiring.
ReplyDeleteGreat update. Is there any way of remastering the distro or snapshoting , may be with tools like cubic or penguins eggs for updates backup?
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot.
DeleteTimeshift does this job.
sudo apt install timeshift
Wow, I didn't know such a menu was available for jwm. It makes it more modern looking. Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot.
DeleteThis is an excellent implementation of JWM.
ReplyDeleteHOWEVER I hate installation routines which insist on enforcing password requirements - either as to length or supposedly being based on a dictionary word!!
By all means warn, but if the users wishes to persist in the supposedly insecure password, that choice should be respected.
(Of course it's not hard to revert the password after installation but that's not the point!)
Hello. Wonderful distro
ReplyDeleteI want to install the distro. Please indicate how to log on to install. What username and password to use. Thanks

Are you using the NEMO file manager? Isn't the XFCE file manager (THUNAR) lighter than NEMO? And why did you change the video player to QMPlay2? Congratulations on the great work!
ReplyDeleteFile managers such as Nemo, Thunar, Caja, Pcmanfm, Spacefm, Double Commander, and Xfe were subjected to numerous tests.
DeleteNemo performed best with JWM, in terms of resource utilization, and without errors.
QMPlay2, Smplayer, VLC, MPV, Haruna, Parole, Celluloid, and a few others were all tested. QMPlay emerged as the best in terms of resource utilization and performance.
These results can change over time. In other words, the loser today may become the best over time.
Thank you very much for this helpful question.
ReplyDeleteI think the welcome screen could have a close button. I encountered various problems with the screenshot tool. My Internet browser was launched several times without me wanting it to be. What about people who want to use Linux without an Internet connection? I need printer support. I need a spreadsheet program. Or an Office package? Can you bring back Siag Office? I need a lot more games. My system is from 2008 and has 2GB of RAM. The Live DVD works very well for me. The German translation still needs to be worked on. It is unacceptable.
Best regards!

Hello.
ReplyDeleteLibreoffice, games, and the printer were not installed as requested for this version. It was mentioned that the ISO file was large. These tools will likely be installed in the next version.
I'm surprised you're having trouble with the screenshot, as it's a very well-adapted tool. Thank you very much for the information. These requests will be taken seriously in the next version.
Oh! It's Great!! You are a Genius.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot.
ReplyDeleteHalf the size of Lubuntu and twice as fast. Very impressive. I agree it's kind of dark.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you liked it, thank you very much.
ReplyDeleteHi, How to make the font bigger ?
ReplyDeleteDon't find font option in menu
Boot with fontsize=1.6 do nothing
Hello.
ReplyDeleteTo increase the panel font size, use the menu > Besjwm > panel control | tool.
To increase the system font size, use the menu > settings > customize appearance | tool.
