BesGnuLinux is an open source and free software site.
I'm trying to develop and share my own personal distribution. I also enjoy sharing what I know about free software.
I've been a GNU/Linux user and passive developer since 2007.
Especially in regions such as Latin countries, Africa and Central Asia, people find it difficult to buy computers.
I'm developing a distribution of BesGnuLinux which I think can revive old machines as trashing old machines annoys me and light sessions are not supported.
I try to make each new version more useful than the previous one.
The word "Bes" means "GNU/Linux only".
It doesn't matter where I'm from, I'm just like everyone else, a worldly person.
If I can avoid being in a free software environment and trashing old machines, I'd consider myself happy.
If you want to send a message about a question, complaint, suggestion or anything else, you can send it here.
Is posible to have a Forum for this Distro?
ReplyDeleteMay be in the future.
DeleteAfter some test Debian upgrade procedure is (as many resping/lives/derived debian distro) incompatible, breaking some configurations and few packages.. .. so is not for stable users that just want to forgotten the system.. but is a great work for mid-to-experts .. (is not for newbies), those details can be imprve.. if you are interested
DeletePlease fix the misspelling of Openbox on the front page. "Besgnulinux Opebox 01-03 ready to use"
ReplyDeleteThanks for your attention and reminder.
DeleteWhere are you from? In this site there are no informations about you.
ReplyDeleteI've added the answer to your question in the About section.
DeleteWhat is developer name?
ReplyDeleteThis distro looks great, but it cannot be installed without a ridiculous amount of swap. Therefore, I shall not install it.
ReplyDeleteIt's just a suggestion, you can bypass the warning and install without swap.
ReplyDeleteHow?
DeleteHello! It really is very fast for netbook. I have a Samsung netbook. It was kept in the trunk. I haven't used it for years. I researched and decided to install some Linux distribution. I installed Linux Mint. It was still slow. I discovered BesGnuLinux on a YouTube channel. I decided to install. It really is very fast, consumes very little RAM. However, one problem. When I type the letter d, in capital letters, two windows open, the terminal and to restart, close, etc., BesGnuLinux.
ReplyDeleteHello.
DeleteThanks for your comment.
This issue has been reported and we are trying to fix it.
Where's the checksum? Can't find it.
ReplyDeleteHow are you ? Hope you are fine ! Keep up the god work brother !
ReplyDeleteBu Linux sürümünü yeni keşfettim ve kurdum. Çok güzel çalışıyor. Debian tabanlı olması çok iyi olmuş. Başarılar dilerim.
ReplyDeleteGüzel temenniniz için çok teşekkürler.
ReplyDeletedo u think build besgnulinux with sysVinit init system, except systemd?
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking about it, but it's not possible these days, maybe in the future.
DeleteI'm glad I learned of this distro. I love your theming and sense of aesthetics. Thank you for the extra configuration tools. Wishing you the best!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you liked it, thank you very much.
DeleteHello, please could you add WINE to it, I need it to make my WIndows EXE software work on my machine. By the way GTKHASH added would be fine. thanks for not letting old PC die...!
ReplyDeleteOpen the "third party software" tool from the menu, click on the wine icon, wine will be installed and placed in the menu.
DeleteI've just tried your distro and I'm impressed. Very good work! Regards.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you liked it, thank you very much.
Delete1) A big hug. I am very grateful for this distribution. I am fond of minimalist distributions. I hope that, being an independent distribution, it can be maintained and endure over time and not be left without support, since I intend to use it as my main distro. The only thing I don't like is that the developer remains anonymous. 2) Being anonymous makes it very difficult to collaborate and create and grow a community that supports the distribution. 3) Likewise, it would be great to create a forum where the community can express themselves, and perhaps a Wiki. 4) These are just the humble opinions of a grateful user. A big fraternal hug from Venezuela and from my YouTube channel. Sincerely, Francisco Veracoechea.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for this kind comment.
DeleteI created the Besgnulinux distribution in 2017. Unfortunately, there's no one who understands the basic principles of the distribution. There have been applicants, but they lack the skills to manage it.
It seems anonymous, but over time, the platforms you mentioned will become available. There's already a bug page and a discussion page. In the future, there will be pages like a wiki and Telegram. If I find someone interested, there might even be a forum page.
Besgnulinux will continue as long as I live. Anyone who understands the spirit of the distribution after me can continue it.
Thank you again, and I hug you with respect and affection.
Thanks! A promising distro. Tip: give some info on how to customize the taskbar (right mouse click on taskbar???). Now one has to know about tray.xml and tray2.xml in /home/besgnulinux/.config/jwm
ReplyDeleteI sent you a file. Commands cannot be sent from here. The file contains the necessary explanation.
DeleteThank you, but I haven’t received anything yet. I already sent you my email address.
DeleteDownload the file from here.

Thanks. But my comment was meant as a suggestion for information under Settings or on a right-click of the taskbar. As it stands, you’re assuming that a user can find and edit tray.xml and tray2.xml.
DeleteGot it.
DeleteIn the next version, I'll allow the user to take direct action instead of providing information. This will be easy to do with a single click.
Great!
DeletePlease, consider the same idea of direct action for the menu instead of manual adapting appmenu in .config/jwm. Thanks.
DeleteYou're probably wrong; the appmenu file isn't manually edited; it runs automatically. It automatically refreshes itself when files are added or removed from the system.
DeleteYes, sorry, I found out. So the only way to customize the menu is adding or removing application via e.g. synaptic package manager?
DeleteYes, the system menu will automatically run when the package is installed or uninstalled. I'm also building a tool for menu customization. It might be available in a future release.
DeleteIs this the place to ask questions or report bugs? Great distro!
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot.
DeleteYeni keşfettim, mutlaka deneyeceğim. Tebrikler ve başarılar :)
ReplyDeleteCould not unpack tar.xz file via right mouse click (extract here). Installed atool and removed file-roller: did not work either. Unpacking via commandline with tar command did the job.
ReplyDeleteGUI tool Xarchiver works fine.
DeleteConsider ScreenGrab as an alternative to Screenshot. After selecting a region, you can hover over, for example, the system tray to trigger a popup message, and ScreenGrab will include it in the capture—something Screenshot does not do. Still impressed by BesGnuLinux! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your suggestion.
DeleteIn addition: consider Geany, KolourPaint and PDFsam because they give a lightweight IDE, a simple image editor and an efficient PDF tool covering common development and documentation needs without adding heavy dependencies.
